Radio 1 was launching Dance and Relax (two new music streams on the app BBC Sounds) and we had to find a way to celebrate them both. Our solution was simple: flip your vibe between them.
To bring this to life, we created an interactive mobile film that allows you to DJ your mood just by rotating your phone from portrait to landscape—and Dance to Relax. It is a world tech first that utilises the gyroscope in a groundbreaking way.
Our double-sided film follows two twin sisters that are living far apart in London and New York, and each represents a different stream. The film is also jam-packed with Easter Eggs that reflect the streams’ famous DJs and presenters.
For music, we used Noizu’s hit Summer ‘91, and worked with him to compose a custom version of the track for our Relax film.
